We are delighted that the LSSIF have recognised the importance of this project which will make a real difference to all those who play football and GAA in our community.
Past chairmen Trevor Grant and Dara Marnell deserve great credit for their tireless work in delivering this project.
The backing and guidance of Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council has been critical, especially from those in the Parks Department.
Co-operation with our neighbours Cuala has been the key aspect to this project. As is true in every part of Ireland, we have players who play all games and if sport is to succeed as it should in this country it is essential that all codes see themselves as allies rather than competitors.
This investment - if combined with the much needed access to pitches which we hope is imminent - should ensure that turning kids away because we don’t have the facilities to accommodate them becomes a thing of the past.
Today we can look forward to our new clubhouse becoming a focal point for members of Dalkey United, Cuala and the community for generations to come.
